Overview

Mana System brings Terraria's magic mechanics to Minecraft. You'll have a mana bar that regenerates over time, magical weapons that consume mana, and items to boost your magical capabilities.

Find Mana Stars dropped by enemies to quickly restore mana, and discover Mana Crystals underground to permanently increase your maximum mana pool.

Tip

Mana regenerates slowly on its own, but stops regenerating for a few seconds after casting a spell. Manage your resources carefully!

Mechanics

Mana Bar

The mana bar appears in your HUD, displaying your current and maximum mana:

  • Starting mana — 20 mana
  • Maximum mana — 200 mana (with all crystals)
  • Regeneration rate — 1 mana per second
  • Regeneration delay — 3 seconds after casting

Mana Regeneration

Mana regenerates automatically when you're not casting spells. The regeneration follows these rules:

  • Natural regeneration starts after 3 seconds of not using magic
  • Regeneration can be boosted with Mana Regeneration Potions
  • Standing still increases regeneration speed by 50%
  • Wearing magic armor can increase regeneration rate

Mana Sickness

Using a Mana Potion while mana is above 0 causes Mana Sickness:

  • Reduces magic damage by 25% for 5 seconds
  • Multiple potions stack the debuff duration
  • Only drink potions when absolutely necessary!

Magic Weapons

Magic weapons consume mana instead of durability. Each weapon has a mana cost and unique effect:

Weapon Mana Cost Damage Effect
Wand of Sparks 5 8 Fires a spark projectile
Aqua Scepter 4 10 Rapid-fire water bolts
Flamelash 14 35 Controllable fire ball
Crystal Storm 6 25 Rains crystal shards
Golden Shower 9 22 Piercing stream, lowers defense

Note

If you don't have enough mana to cast a spell, the weapon simply won't activate. Plan your mana usage carefully in combat!

Mana Items

Mana Stars

Mana Stars drop from hostile mobs (10% chance) and restore 20 mana instantly. They float toward you when nearby, similar to experience orbs.

Mana Crystals

Found underground between Y levels -20 and -60. Using a Mana Crystal permanently increases your maximum mana by 20. You can use up to 9 crystals.

  • Starting mana: 20
  • After 9 crystals: 200 maximum mana
  • Crystals emit a blue glow when nearby

Mana Potions

Craftable potions that restore mana. Recipe:

  • 1 Glass Bottle
  • 2 Glowstone Dust
  • 1 Mana Star

Restores 100 mana but causes Mana Sickness if used above 0 mana.

Greater Mana Potion

Upgraded version that restores 200 mana. Crafted with:

  • 1 Mana Potion
  • 3 Mana Stars
  • 1 Blaze Powder
